In AcroYoga and Partner Acrobatics, once you have moved beyond the fear factor; it is a lot about precision. Now don't get me wrong, this is a HUGE once! If you are being pitched into the air, or you are balancing in a strange position on someone you don't know so well, it can be scary...
Where to put the weight
One of the best ways to move beyond fear is focus on the thing you do want to do. In static poses, for the flyer you want to be able to answer these sort of questions:
Which part of your body is the foundation?
What part of your body are you trying to pour your weight through?
The more precise you can be with this the easier any pose will be to make. You can make it prettier with lots of extension and pointed toes; but ultimately if you pour your weight through the right spot you will be easier to base whatever shape your body makes.
When you include movement, the following questions enter the dynamic:
Which body part(s) are you trying to move?
In what direction!?
What is the point of pivot?
What are you generating force/power/movement from or through?

Shena flies this really well, although I would argue that there is still plenty of room for improvement.
